Pigeon Quatsch: Mainz05 Postmatch Wrap
Here we go again. Just when things were looking up, the same old lousy Werder shows up for a crucial home match against Mainz and are dragged back down into the relegation muck.
With the Green-Whites sitting in 15th place after 26 matches, the room for error is quickly disappearing.
The guys discuss the match, but they aren’t happy about it. Ups are still on probation, but there are plenty of downs, including what the heck happened on the first goal. The substitutions brought some hope; are more lineup changes the answer going forward?
Then it’s time to look ahead, with a crucial cliché 6 pointer at Wolfsburg on tap. Will Werder be able to overcome the continuous flow of injuries and the loss of their Danish talisman? How will stadium staff know whether that green is Werder or Wolfsburg coded? What is going on with the ticket situation?
The front office is in denial, but multiple reports say Scouting Director Johannes Jahns will be out at the end of the season. Is he the problem or is he just a scapegoat for a stale soup dumpling and a hapless pretty boy?
Pyro talk gets put on the back burner for discussion about a rumored Smiths album, Tim Wiese’s gym buddies, and the far right in Ireland. Christian does the weave, Jim can’t read a script, and more on this week’s late edition of the Wrap.
